We recently had central heating installed in our 1913 Craftsman house and the basic registers looked ugly in the hardwood floors. These look very nice and include an all metal base/louvers. The other one I found, both on Amazon and at Home Depot, had a plastic base/louvers. I don't have to mess with the louvers much but the all metal definitely feels sturdier. Only drawback is that this design doesn't come in many sizes (we needed a 6x12 as well). I was able to find a nice 6x12 elsewhere but it doesn't have exactly this pattern. All in all seems like a sturdy and attractive product.
